Judge Zuzic rules in her husband’s trial

Judge Zuzic was given the case that relates to the Agricultural Station Ltd. whose director is her husband, Zeljko Zuzic.

Judge Vesna Zuzic, wife of the Velika Gorica Solidum owner, Zeljko Zuzic, is currently presiding in the case in which her husband is the accused party. Despite the fact that this is obvious case of conflict of interests, Municipal Court in Velika Gorica did nothing to stop it , writes Jutarnji List.

Judge Zuzic was allegedly given control of litigation associated with the Agricultural Station Ltd., whose board member and director, is her husband. The Municipal State Attorney's Office in Velika Gorica, stated that this was a clear case of conflicting interests and they filed a petition for disqualification of judge Zuzic from the process.

However, Irena Kvaternik, President of the Municipal Court in Velika Gorica refused this request and stated, according to Jutanji List, how her decision may not be appealed.

Although Kvaternik did not want to publish a public statement, it is rumored that she justified her decision by asserting that Mrs. Zuzic was neither the plaintiff nor a lawyer, and as such, was not partial to any parties.

Judge Vesna ZuZic said for Jutarnji List that she could not comment on the case that she was not in charge of and argues that nobody requested her exclusion from the trial.  This is certainly contrary to the truth, because the court file no. 9SU-346/09, that is, a solution that has passed on May 28 clearly shows that the Municipal State Attorney's request for exemption of the judge, was denied.

Zuzic could have withdrawn from the case

However, this record is difficult to get a hold of because the Municipal Court in Velika Gorica does not want to give any insight into their documentation.
Jelena Rajic, a spokeswoman for the court, initially said that such a document cannot be found without a number, only to refute it a couple of days later by saying that the document could not be shown because it would first need an agreement from the President of the Court who decides ‘what will be approved or denied’. To a question sent to her e-mail, the only response journalists received, were a couple of scarce sentences.

Latest news came from a spokeswoman who said that they could not deliver the file, because they are not party dealing with the proceedings, and that insight into this document ‘does not clarify why the dispute against Agricultural Station Ltd. was opened nor how long would it take’.

Jutarnji List’s trusted sources learn that the Municipal State Attorney raised charges against three other individuals before the investigation finally revealed that the disputed land was actually registered under the Agricultural Station doo.

If the court did not know the peculiarities of the story involving Solidum, Director's wife probably knew many more details and this should have been a sufficient reason for her to withdraw from the case.
