CLASH WITH MANAGEMENT

Dissatisfied with the Foundation over the lack of payment to the most impoverished veterans, Party of Rights member Vlado Jukic quits.
As a member of the management board of the Veterans' Foundation, Jukic bitterly claims that the Foundation has 25 million kunas at its disposal, earned by means of veterans' shares.
- That sum should soon grow by another 12 million kunas and yet no veteran has received a share of the money, even though many of them live an impoverished life – said Jukic.
He added that he no longer wanted to be part of a management board that did not conduct affairs in a transparent and public manner.
To clarify, Jukic submitted a formal appeal to be absolved from his position as a member of the management board several months ago.
- The allotment of aid is most likely on hold until autumn in order for the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) to be able to buy veterans' votes – thinks the Party of Rights member.
As an example, he cites the lack of transparency in the Foundation's decision to choose the Erste Bank as the bank in which to open a bank account.
- One cannot make such a decision just like that – claims Jukic, adding that they could have opted for Hrvatska Postanska Banka (Croatian Post Office Bank) instead because it was state-owned.
It is not yet known who is to replace Jukic on the management board.
