Kerum failed to appear at the trial

Text

Municipal State Attorney's Office filed a lawsuit proposal against Kerum and the city of Split for violating laws on public procurement.

Split mayor, Zeljko Kerum, failed to appear Thursday morning before the Magistrate Court in Split in connection with the “Kindergarten affair.”

Municipal State Attorney's Office filed a lawsuit proposal last September against Kerum and the city of Split for violating laws on public procurement.

Lawsuit proposal states that the mayor and city arranged kindergarten’s landscaping contracts without proper negotiating process. Works on the two kindergartens were awarded to Ivica Livaje-owned-company called Taho-keramika.

Since there was no reason for urgency in the negotiating process, ODO seeks to punish the city of Split with 150 thousand kunas in fines and Kerum with 50 thousand.

Kerum’s lawyer, Miroslav Saric, said that the mayor plans to address a lawsuit proposal in writing.

- This was a regular procedure and Kerum decided to utilize his rights by responding in writing. I do not wish to talk about contents of his response because this would constitute a pressure against the judiciary – Kerum’s lawayer briefly responded.

Next discussion is scheduled for March 8.
