If we can remark new political moves, that are most important, Croatian citizens really have become fortunate with the new Kukuriku government led by Zoran Milanovic. Until now, everything has been reduced to the mere smoke and mirrors and cheap populism, as in the campaign itself, as for now. Furthermore, to make things even worse now, more than ever, it is obvious that the campaign was fake.
The introduction of pension taxes was never mentioned, value-added tax was mentioned only in the context about tax. The announcement of the War veterans’ registry suddenly became a problem that is about to be solved.
Today they talk about the property tax under the excuse of saving one class in Croatia, and VAT is supposed to be increased. Some say, even up to 26 percent. They didn’t even mention those painful cuts and demission. Milanovic spent a lot of time on the unnecessary explanations as teaching media and public that the expression ‘’painful cuts’’ shouldn’t be used since that would have meant the amputation of some part of a working body, but this is not about the amputation but the reduction of the budget costs!
Now the new government, which won Marko square over the relevant lies and hiding the real political moves in the campaign, has only words, not about the painful cuts but about the painful ‘’additions’’. And new tax overloads on the citizens.
By tax introduction which is supposed to be, as they explained off the record, property tax for the rich people, there is a question to be imposed: For whom is this tax being introduced for? For Ivica Todoric, Emil Tedeschi, Danko Koncar, Luka Rajic and similar Croatian rich people? This explanation is so funny and it means nothing more but to fool the citizens. How many of those rich folks have the property registered over their names? Even Todoric doesn’t have properties registered on his own name but on Agrokor. Or is it to remind that Kulmerovi dvori that were registered as a hotel owned by the company which is, as the government vice president Cacic said, the strategic interest of this state? And don’t worry; Todoric isn’t the only person who has property registered on his company.
And who does this property tax concern? Todoric, Tadeschi, Koncar or any other citizen who owns an apartment or a cottage at the countryside or on the coast, or maybe some citizens who had enough luck during their working period to buy two apartments, when one is becoming a luxury?
At the same time when Croatian Telekom fires employees and works on painful cuts in real manner (and no one from the government is making statements about that), the new Government is cutting back pensions – of those privileged ones. As if those pensions are the main reason why the state budget is unacceptable.
Of course that these pensions mean the budget overload, but do they really load the budget that much so this cut must be the first one? Or is it about the cosmetic procedure that should calm the citizens and say: there you go, although we are going to rip you off, but we are keeping our promise. At least the promise doesn’t mean that much. But those that mean something to you, those promises you can forget.
