Australian citizen Britt Lapthorne (21) went missing on September 18, 2008 in Dubrovnik under unclear circumstances and was last seen in front of a Dubrovnik nightclub, leaving in the company of two men and five girls. Her body was found after some 20 days of search, on October 6 in Boninovo Cove.
The remains were in poor condition, however a DNA analysis, published on October 9, confirmed that the missing Australian tourist was in question.
The autopsy showed that no signs of violence were found. The body was then transported to Australia and another autopsy was performed. Investigative judge Jennifer Coate published autopsy findings on December 30, 2008 in Melbourne, stating the cause of death was unclear.
