PhotoOnce again we have the opportunity to see that in Croatia, the mafia has the state, but the state does not have mafia under control - Degen.
Shock and disbelief after the brutal liquidation of Ivana Hodak in the stairwell of the building in which she lived, only a hundred meters away from Zagreb’s police headquarters, reigns amongst the colleagues of her father Zvonimir Hodak, and her colleagues. As the lawyer Rajko Mlinaric told us in a telephone conversation, all the lawyers, judges and people that contacted him since he heard of the brutal murder of Ivana Hodak only ask one thing – who did one young girl ever do anything wrong to?
“We are all very hit and shocked by the news that somebody cold bloodedly liquidated a young girl in the centre of the city. One thing is certain, and I responsibly claim: Ivana’s murder was not coincidental, that was not a mistake” says Mlinaric.
He added that he can not say with certainty that Ivana’s murder was connected to the work of her father.
“I believe that if I am bothering somebody, they will battle with me, they probably would not touch my children.
The mafia even has its code of behaviour according to which children must not be touched. I repeat, Ivana’s murder was not coincidental, and with what aim it happened should be solved by the police as soon as possible” said Mlinaric. He called upon minister Roncevic to now comment on the safety in Croatia, especially in Zagreb, where in a period of four hours there were two liquidation of young girls.
Miljevic: Too many unsolved murders in this city
Veljko Miljevic, a lawyer from Zagreb, also considers that Zagreb and Croatia are not safe. He claims that Zagreb is not a safe city today, just as it has not been for a long time.
“There are too many unsolved murders, mafia liquidations, and today’s two murders confirm the fact that Zagreb is not safe. That has exceeded all measures. For years I have known the parents of the murdered Ivana and I am simply in shock. The liquidation of a young girl in the centre of the city” concluded Miljevic. He added that, when he heard about Ivana’s murder, around 50 things that people could have resented his father for passed through his head, but he still believes that nobody would liquidate his only child for that.
Also, says Mlinaric, he honestly believes that in this case the police will not fail and that Ivana’s executor will soon be brought before the face of justice.
“These sort of murders do not even occur in criminal circles”
The lawyer Ante Madunic said that these sort of crime does not even occur in criminal circles.
He claims that he does not want to believe that this murder is connected to the work of Zvonimir Hodak, because then he, and his other colleagues that work with criminal law, should “put a key in the lock”.
“If it is proven that Ivana was killed because of her father’s work, I will close my office and move to Dalmatia to plant vines” concluded Miljevic. He added that the parents of the murdered girl, Zvonimir Hodak and Ljerka Mintas should be left alone.
Hodak, yes, they are mourning their child.
“Security should be worked on, and not talked about”
The lawyer Silvije Degen sees the death of Ivana Hodak as the real portrayal of the moral state that rules our society.
“Terrible, I can not believe that my colleague, the daughter of my respected colleague, was so brutally murdered. That is only evidence that our state is not functioning, because the foundation of every state is not functioning, and that is a state of justice. Once again we have the opportunity to see that in Croatia, the mafia has the state, but the state does not have the mafia under control” said Degen. He concluded that now is the right time for everybody to stop giving false data about the safety in this country, or city, and to finally start working on it.
