Low-Floors Expensified 12 Mill. Euro

Text

Last year the city contracted purchase of 70 new trams, only the price is questionable, which rose up by 10 percent.

The acquisition of additional 70 low-floor trams will cost tax payers  nearly 12 million euro more than in 2002, which is visible from the Holding and Crotram contract.

Last year a final decision on the purchase of new trams was made, and the Zagreb Holding Management President Slobodan Ljubicic said the price can only be lower than 118 million. But in the period since the end of 2002 until now, the story has changed, and the prices grew by 10 percent. The price rise is justified by a large increase of metal prices and labour costs, the Poslovni dnevnik writes.

They warned from the Crotram consortium, consisted of Koncar and Gredelj, that the price can only be higher because the prices of founding inputs increased in the meantime.

Ljubicic believes it would be pointless to give up from the new tram acquisition, although the price of one tram is now 200,000 euro.
