Luka Ritz’s Killers Finally in Hands of Police

Confidential sources of the crime police reported that the Luka Ritz murder case has finally been solved after five months.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – According to latest information from confidential sources, the case of the murder of Luka Ritz, on which Zagreb police have been working for five months, has finally been solved. The police have apprehended six minors and young adults connected with the murder.

The investigators identified among the six one minor who gave Luka Ritz blows that proved to be fatal.

The young man, who has a thick police record, allegedly confessed to beating up Ritz. According to some media, a friend who was with Luka Ritz that night immediately recognised him.

Graphics Design School senior, 19-year-old Luka Ritz, was returning home with a friend in the night of June 1 when a group of young men approached them. They asked of Ritz and his friend for two kuna and their mobile phones, which they said they did not have, so they left. But only briefly. They returned soon after and brutally beat up Luka and his friend. Luka spent three days in hospital, after which he was released home. He lived normally for several days afterwards, until June 12 when he suddenly fell ill in his bathroom. He was taken to hospital again, but he died on the operating table from intracerebral haemorrhage caused by the beating.

Police talked to more than a thousand people at the station, Luka’s friends put up posters across Zagreb, appealing that the killer be found as soon as possible, but until Tuesday, the case seemed hopeless.

After Luka’s death, his family donated his organs, supporting his decision to be an organ donor, which he made when he was 17 years old.
