Mayor: Mamic Ruined Dinamo’s Dignity

Text

The mayor severely condemned Mamic’s incident, and distanced himself from him, but did not mention any sanctions.

The mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic, as honorary president of NK Dinamo football club, severely condemned NK Dinamo president Zdravko Mamic’s statement, and distanced himself from his inappropriate reaction, says a public statement issued by city government, after Mamic’s verbal assault on a journalist for 24 sata, Romana Eibl.

In his statement Bandic says that leaders of sport clubs should speak like sportsmen, and not using a dirty vocabulary, promoting partnership and culture of dialogue.

Bandic believes that Mamic’s incident has ruined the dignity of the club, and that no individual can be above the club, because Dinamo belongs to the supporters and the citizens of Zagreb.

- The spirit and atmosphere of Zagreb sometimes must be more important that the result, so we must learn that we don’t save the reputation of Dinamo only on the field but also outside – Bandic said.

However, whether Bandic, as honorary president of the club and mayor of Zagreb, will consider sacking Mamic is not written anywhere in his public statement, although, when we asked him this question, the mayor told us that we will read about it a statement.
