Mayor: We Wont Pay Handball Federation Full Sum

Text

We will sign a contract with the Croatian Handball Federation this week, but will not pay the full request, said Zagreb´s mayor.

ZAGREB, CROATIA - Whilst all of the cities across Croatia that participated in organizing the World Handball Championship paid the additional fees that the Croatian Handball Federation requested, the City of Zagreb is obviously privileged.

Besides Zagreb’s mayor Milan Bandic delaying the signing of the contract by a month, he has now announced that he will not pay the full sum requested by the Croatian Handball Federation.

“We will sign the contract by the end of the World Handball Championship, this week. We will pass cheaper than the request sent to us. The additional expenses will be significantly lower. Had we signed earlier, we would have paid full price. You see, sometimes you need to wait. How much the Croatian Handball Federation requested and how much we will pay, you can hear at the press conference” said Bandic after a city government meeting.

Remember, the Croatian Handball Federation requested that the cities in which the World Handball Championship is being played cover the additional costs of organization. The federation initially requested that each city pay one million kuna, then raised that request to three million, whilst they sought that Zagreb pay 10 million kuna.
