Meningococcal Sepsis Again in Koprivnica

Text

A boy from Koprivnica area has been transported to Zagreb because of the same disease a girl from the same area had died from.

Meningococcal sepsis has been diagnosed on a three-year old boy from the Koprivnica area. Doctors are still waiting for integral test results.

Despite all medicinal measures, the boy’s health did not improve, so he was sent to Zagreb’s Clinic for Infectious Diseases. A 20-month old girl from Kprivnica had died of the disease six months ago.

According to infectologists, this is an isolated case because the three-year-old did not attend kindergarten.

But citizens in Fernandinovac near Koprivnica are panicking because this is the second case of this dangerous and rare disease within half a year.

The Institute for Public Health therefore sent its teams to the northern Croatian town to inoculate all those who were in direct contact with the boy, Jutarnji list reports.

-- There is no room for panic. Everything necessary has been done and there is no reason for concern – said Drazenka Vadla, head of the county Institute for Public Health.
