I do not have any medals thanks to Tudjman. Hodak should know that the law said that I must go to the Hague, says Mesic.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The Croatian president Stjepan Mesic mentioned in Split the stripping of medals from general Vladimir Zagorec, Mirko Norac and Tihomir Blaskic. Norac and Blaskic will lose their medals based on a valid verdict for war crimes, and Zagorec will lose them for violating Croatian law, reports Glas Dalmacije. Mesic strongly answered Zagorec’s lawyer Zvonimir Hodak, who stated that Franjo Tudjman should have removed Mesic’s medals for testifying at the Hague court.
Mesic should have lost his medals when he secretly testified against Croatian generals in the Hague. President Tudjman should have taken his medals then, but he did not, and that is he great mistake
The profession and business are next
The president stressed that Croatia has not overcome political divisions, but when issues of national importance are concerned, there is a consensus. This is true when Slovenia is in question as well as the economic crisis. As far as the dispute with Slovenia is concerned, they see a solution in an international body, and for the economic crisis, time needs to be given for the anti-recession measures of the Croatian cabinet to work.
“It was high time for the cabinet to bring them, how successful they will be needs to be left to the profession and business. Now they need to do their part” said Mesic.
