The Mayor Milan Bandic and his associates spent some time with the citizens at Ban Jelacic Square yesterday. The meeting was organized on St Valentine’s Day so he gave roses and doughnuts as presents.
During half-hour period he gave 2000 roses and the same number of doughnuts.
-The nicest present for me is love. I don’t need anything else – Bandic was in a good mood saying these words. He didn’t want to reveal what he had given his wife as a present.
Before this meeting he had joined the public health action called “Sober tram” which took place on the corner of Praska street and Ban Jelacic Square.
This traditional action is organized by the City office for Health and War Veterans together with Associations of ex-alcoholic addicts. The aim of this event is to raise consciousness about the dangers of alcohol consumption and the consequences of extensive drinking for individuals, their families and the community as a whole.
- I don’t drink alcohol for years. If I drink, it is once in 15 years. There are people who drink every day and this appears to be a dangerous social problem. We have to fight against it using all measures – Bandic said while taking part in this action.
