Milanović: One who thinks Bandić's going to fight the corruption let him has it and let him choose it
SDP President Zoran Milanović disclosed in an interview given to Radio 101 he wasn't going to elaborate a referendum on accont of discharge of Milan Bandić at the mayor position. He added that he fully respects the will of the voters, but nevertheless he emphasized his very own opinion on the SDP presidential candidate.
- I've believed from the very beginning that we've the best candidates there are and moreover that we've chosen the best there is - Ivo Josipović. I see the new president as the pillar of the society and the fighter against the corruption. The ones who thinks this would be Milan Bandić, let them choose him - stated the party president.
Besides, he emphasized that the referendum is a mere measure that should be executed only when something drastically serious happen and moreover, there's no way that 50 percent of the registered voters would be the exit results of the elections, for the figures for the local elections were no more than 36 percent, while, according to his opinion, back then, Bandić won the elections only with the help of the party.
- It's not sexy to be a mayor -
- I won't maybe work my fingers to the bone, but I sure did have nerves of steel so far. Bandić's now running away, which also says a lot about his character. He leaves the place at this very moment when Zagreb is heading toward a great financial hardship, obviously it's not sexy anymore to be a mayor - disclosed Milanović in an interview.
He also admitted that he was trying to find a common language for three months with Bandić, but still he woundn't comply with his rules. Convinced that the Croatian citizens have the right to know where all the money went that mayor Bandić handed out as the only member of the Holding supervisory board and having a meeting with his own self
Milanović explains that it would interesting to see even where from Bandić got the money he's using for the presidential campaign, but he also emphasized that's not his business to question these things. SDP president wasn't too lenient even when it comes to Antunović, who ran for the candidacy of the Zagreb SDP headquarters president, saying to her that she would be far better off, if she's a bit more concerned about the party, to get grip on herself and to work hardly on Josipović's campaign.
