Mirela Holy resigned from the position of the Ministry for Environment and Nature Protection. The reason for this was the letter in which she had asked the CEO of HZ to save one of his secretaries. The secretary is married to one of Holy’s colleagues from her political party.
We quote her letter of resignation:
Dear President of the Government, Mr Milanovic,
I resign from my position of the Minister for Environment and Nature Protection due to my recent actions that were unfortunately not thought through before. I sent an e-mail to Mr Rene Valcic, the CEO of HZ Holding and by doing this I did political harm to the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
Yours sincerely,
dr. sc. Mirela Holy
We got the information from the president’s office that Milanovic confirmed the resignation. This is the second member of this government who resigned. The Minister of Transport Zlatko Komadina resigned from his position in April.
The latest scandal shook the government in Banski dvori. Holy said that her action was just a human gesture and not a political intervention. She also added that she didn’t see the problem in this action and that she would do the same thing again. Nevertheless, many people disapproved her behavior. She also said for Mediaservis that she would respect any decision of the Government. However, she filed her resignation before the government’s decision. (B.K./Mediaservis)
Holy: I am the victim of intelligence services… Ostojic should reveal the name of the person who sent my e-mail to the media
Puhovski: Mirela Holy’s action is questionable
A new mistake: Minister Holy’s intervention in HZ.
