Croatia will remain to be one of the leading countries in Europe according to the number of judges, courts and justice non-efficiency.
According to the Ministry of Justice analyses out of 21 county courts, six of them need to be cancelled, and out of 104 municipality courts, 58 of them. Also, a thorough reform of the magistrates courts is necessary.
However, seeing how this is an election year, the voters would bear a grudge against the government in even six counties and about 50 municipalities with such a cut.
Mayors of certain cities claim that the resistance towards the elimination of courts on local levels is powerful and that this move might seriously endanger the survival of local officials in power, the Jutarnji list writes.
-I personally received a promise from Minister Lovrin that our court in Slavonski Brod will remain, said Brod-Posavina county head Sima Djurdjevic of the Croatian Democratic Union.
Gospic Mayor, Milan Kolic also believes that the yonder County court should not be cancelled, but a branch of the commercial court should be opened.
Milan Bandic congratulated Perkovic and Spanja for their achievements
