Mouse fever in the area near Sljeme

Text

Around twenty people from Zagreb got mouse fever during January and February. Most of them live in the area near Sljeme. Luckily, no one has harder symptoms of the disease. The doctors from the Institute for Public Health explained that severe winter chased mice from the woods and forced them to hide in houses and sheds in that part of the city. But they also added that there was a possibility that the citizens infected with this disease when hiking the mountain and not at home.

- All the patients who live in Sljeme area were interviewed and they all said that they had spent some time on the mountain. One lady hasn’t been interviewed yet – dr Vladimira Lesnikar from the Institute said.

To prevent the infection the doctors from the Institute suggest people to wash their hands all the time. Dr Lesnikar also warns people who have cottages which they use only for weekends or holidays. When they clean such places, people should get rid of mice. If they notice a great number of mice, they should disinfect the whole place.
