CROATIA, CROATIA!

While Jarnjak was surprised we even asked him who Croatia is playing, Marinovic did not know the answer to the question.
The football madness has also caught Croatian politicians. The European Championship is a top-issue among the MPs, and many of them personally went to Vienna in order to raise their hands and shout “Croatia, Croatia!”. One of them, Damir Kajin of the Istrian Democratic Assembly (IDS), told us that the road between Maribor and Vienna there is almost no other car but Croatian ones.
- On the motorway from Maribor to Vienna every second car has a Croatian number plate, and every fourth or fifth car waves a Croatian flag. It is a wonderful view, I think that we will see a great atmosphere and that Croatian supporters tomorrow will show everyone how you support – Kajin told us.
Jarnjak: Dear God, why would I not know that?
Also Deputy PM, Ivan Jarnjak follows the European Championship. He answered so hard that he almost got angry when we asked him who is Croatia playing tomorrow.
- Dear God, why would I not know that? – Jarnjak said in a bitter laughter.
However, he answered that Croatia will play Poland, Austria and Germany, and of course he will watch all the game.
Djapic: We will defeat Austria!
Anto Djapic, of the HSP (Croatian Party of Rights) currently is not in Europe, but he hopes Croatia gets through to the second round.
- Tomorrow we are playing Austria, and we will beat them! – said Djapic.
Anticevic-Marinovic: Who is Croatia playing?
The least interested in football was Ingrid Anticevic Marinovic of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). She will watch the championship, she said, but not too much. This ‘not too much’ justifies the following question. When asked whether she knew who Croatia is playing tomorrow, Anticevic-Marinovic shouted at people around her:
- Hey, who is Croatia playing tomorrow? – she asked, and when they answered her, she answered us.
- Austria – said Anticevic-Marinovic.
Antunovic: exaggerating is when supporting turns into madness
Zeljka Antunovic of the SDP knew the answers to the questions about Croatia’s adversaries, but she was not too interested in supporting.
- I will watch all the games, but I am not too satisfied. We must support, not exaggerate – said Antunovic, and she answered what she meant by “exaggerating”.
- Exaggerating is when supporting turns into madness – said Antunovic.
Bauk: My sport is basketball, but of course I follow football too
However, the best answers came from a passionate basketball fan. Sportsman in his hard, young MP Arsen Bauk of the SDP gave us the following answer:
- Today the first game in schedule is Czech Republic – Switzerland. Tomorrow Croatia plays the first game at 6 pm against Austria, and at 9 pm there is Germany-Poland.
