Croatia’s opposition MPs believe that Slovenia will significantly slow down Croatia’s entry into the European Union.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – President of the Croatian People’s Party (HNS), Vesna Pusic, and president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Zoran Milanovic, on Wednesday briefly commented the blockade of Croatia’s accession negotiations due to Slovenia and so-called artillery diaries.
- Everything is pointing to the fact that negotiations will not be completed by the end of the year. The European Commission is changing and this means a delay of at least a year – Pusic said, stressing that there would be no progress until the Croatian and Slovenian prime ministers, Sanader and Pahor, meet and start resolving the problem.
Milanovic avoided precise prognoses about how much Croatia’s negotiations could be prolonged.
- I am not a prophet, I am a politician. But I know the government is not doing enough – he said.
