Text

The fly raising ceremony is scheduled for April 7, after the summit which will end with accession.

NATO headquarters in Brussels has already started preparations for two new flags being raised, which is a clear sign that the organisation counts on Croatia becoming a member by the time the April 3-4 summit takes place in Strasbourg and Kehl.

Accession is formally marked with the flag of the new member being raised in front of NATO headquarters in Brussels.

Accession protocol on NATO expansion to Croatia and Albania was ratified by parliaments of all 26 membering countries, including Slovenia.

NATO`s Brussels complex, where 26 flags are currently flying, saw two new holes being dug out for two new flags. Works on offices are also being finalised, where Croatian NATO mission will be located. A new wing of the building is in question, where missions of all membering countries are located.

Flag raising ceremony is scheduled for April 7, after the summit in Strasbourg and Kehel, which will take place on April 3 and 4.

In order for Croatia to become a full NATO member, first the difficulties with the ratification process must be solved in Slovenia.

Accession protocol on NATO expansion to Croatia and Albania was ratified by parliaments of all 26 membering countries, including Slovenia. However, for Slovenia to submit the ratification protocol to the State Department, first the initiative of the Slovene People`s Party (SSN) must be concluded, which wants to challenge the ratification at a referendum.
