The results of the first phase of testing of the new border crossing management computer system will be presented in Zagreb’s Dverce Palace.
The EU has earmarked 4.5 million euros for the project that sets the preconditions for Croatia’s future inclusion into the Schengen information system.
The project started in 2004 at the Pleso and Bajakovo crossings, under the sponsorship of CARDS 2002.
Besides the two said crossings, seven others will be equipped in the second phase of the project.
The system will ensure a high level of control of persons and vehicles crossing the border by being registered in a central data base, the Croatian Radio Television reported.
Interior Minister Ivica Kirin and the head of the European Commission Delegation in Croatia, Vincent Degert are expected to attend the presentation.
