The End of Legislative Period

New Line-up at Constitutional Court

Milan Vukovic’s stint ends March 1, 2007, and for another eight judges they ended in December, so the government has to hurry up with their selection before elections in November.

According to ‘Vecernji list’, there are two candidates instead of Milan Vukovic, Davor Krapac, Professor at Faculty of Law in Zagreb, and Boris Koketi, the minister of justice’s assistant.

Krapac is a member of Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and is suported by the Prime Minister, Ivo Sanader. Even though, Petar Klaric, the president, and Jasna Omejec, the vice-president, do not recognize him as a candidate because of his reputation of being unpleasant in comunication and cooperation.

One of the reasons is that he stands on the way to Klaric who, inspite of his age, still tends to compete for the judge, and after that, for the president.

Dr. Jasna Omejec is highly praised and it is said that she was the one who held Constitutional Court together with the help of Agata Racan. It is estimated that she could be the one who could win four-years legislative period as the president of Constitutional Court.
