MURTER, Oct 14 (Hina) - Examples of a rare plant called Allium cupani and a rare species of bats, called Nyctalus lasiopterus, have been discovered on the Croatian archipelago of Kornati, the "Argonauta" association of Murter and the Zagreb-based "Bius" association of biology undergraduates have reported recently.
Activists of the two associations conducted research on the ground and found the flower Allium cupani. They also discovered the re-appearance of Nyctalus lasiopterus, a rare type of giant bat, in Croatia after 83 years.
The associations released a collection of papers with their findings. Vladimir Vanja Cavrak of the Bius association said that more than 1,000 biological species were estimated to exist on the archipelago.
