Text

The number of tourists in Zagreb is increasing on a daily basis. Most are Germans, but there are also many tourists from Japan.

The number of tourists in Zagreb is increasing day by day. From the beginning of 2006 to the end of November, the number of tourists visiting Zagreb grew by nine percent in relation to the same period the year before.

The number of overnight stays increased by 8.5 percent. Most tourists (42,612) came from Germany, followed by Austrians (28,525), Americans (27,872), Italians (28,860) and the British (21,541), the Vecernji list daily writes Friday.

The residents of Zagreb have been encountering an increasing number of Japanese tourists in the city. A total of 15,677 Japanese tourists were registered in Croatia’s capital in 2006, or 101 percent more than in the first 11 months of the year 2005.

Recently 40,000 pilgrims visited Zagreb and, although they stayed with Croatian families free of charge, their spending certainly contributed to the city’s improved tourist statistics.
