No Signals from Plane, Search Not Going Well

Text

The weather conditions are so bad that the search for the missing Cessna is not going well, nothing can be seen at six to ten metres.

GOSPIC, CROATIA – Head of the Croatian Mountain Search and Rescue Service, Vinko Prizmic, denied some media reports that they have managed to locate mobile phone signals of all four passengers in the Cessna that apparently crashed on Mount Velebit.

- The mobile phones are non-functional. When they were functional, we did a reconstruction and entered it into an analysis – Prizmic said.

This could help locate the pilots, but according to Prizmic, the search for survivors is not going well due to the rough conditions of the terrain.

- The conditions are so bad that the search is not going well. Visibility is only six to ten metres – Prizmic said.

In the meantime, Lika-Senj County police said police patrols collected information from locals from the north-east side of the mountain, which directs the search towards the area of the Vagan summit  which has not been completely cleared of mines. 43 police are still searching the area on the north-east side of Mount Velebit. Due to poor weather conditions, the police helicopter still has not taken off to help with the search.
