Noam Chomsky Supports Croatian Students In Protest

Text

If the financing model is not restructured immediately, the Drama Arts Academy will not enrol a new generation next year.

If the financing model is not restructed immediately, the Drama Arts Academy (ADU) will not enrol a new generation of students next year at any of the departments, the Independent Initiative for Free Education at the ADU announced. This defeating information has been announced during the ADU plenum, which decided that the students will keep on protesting for free education and block the lectures from taking place at the faculty today as well.

A message sent by Noam Chomsky to all Croatian students was also read aloud:

I learned about the fight of Croatian students for free education for everyone. This is a goal of exceptional value for every society, including my own, where rights are not ensured and I wish them success with their efforts. Noam Chomsky.

The plenum decided that apart from the inacceptable scholarship model, there is currently an inacceptable evaluation model of specific needs of individual faculties in Croatia, which results in a difficult situation for the students (as well as the staff) of the faculty that includes praxis in its programme.

The third day of the student bloc of the Academy passed in working and creating atmosphere. Apart congratulating Labour day, special gratitude note was forwarded to the Academy staff on behalf of the Independent Initiative for Free Education at the Academy, for the support and help in realising the bloc, as well as dean Enes Midzic, who spent the entire day with the protesting students.
