Government and parliament failed to pass even half of the laws necessary for harmonisation with European legislature
At the Croatian government’s suggestion, the Croatian parliament passed 90 new laws this year, of which only 13 were laws harmonising the country’s legislature with that of the European Union, although, according to the action plan for 2006, there should have been 59 such laws.
The government’s spokesman, Ratko Macek, told Zagreb’s Jutarnji list daily yesterday that the government had forwarded to the parliament 34 “European” laws, but the parliament had passed and issued only 13. Another 13 are waiting to be publicised and eight more are in procedure. In a nutshell, the government and parliament passed less than a half of the laws necessary for harmonisation with Europe’s legislature.
