While 7.9% of Croatians have university degrees, 15.7% did not finish high school and 2.8% did not apply for high school.
Zelimir Janjic, the state secretary at the Ministry of education presented disastrous data about the number of educated Croats.
Only 21.7% finished just elementary school, 15.7% never finished high school and 2.8% did not even enrol in a high school.
-Forty-seven percent of citizens have high school diplomas, while there are 7.9% university graduates- said Janjic in parliament where a governmental motion about adult education was discussed. By applying that motion, a very bad educational structure in the state would become better.
-Investing in education is the most effective investment because with a low educational structure we cannot develop a competitive economy – said Janjic.
Adults are people who are older than 15 years and they finished their compulsory education. This new bill would allow up to seven days paid absence of leave from education.
At the same time, this bill has envisaged fines for employers who do not obey the law.
