Only three HDZ members support Sanader?

Calling a press conference behind president’s back is an attempt to destabilize her. He drew a final blow against himself, Milinovic says.

Out of 22 members of the HDZ’s leadership, Ivo Sanader can count on the support of only three of them: Luka Bebic, Mario Zubovic and Petar Selem, Vecernji List writes.

Everyone else may side with the HDZ president, Jadranka Kosor. The only members who may sway are Bianca Matkovic and Damir Polancec, who could possibly step onto Sanader’s side.

Even tough Bianca Matkovic is Sanader’s supporter siding with him may cost her political career. Damir Polancec left the government because of Podravka affair and it is hard to say who he would follow.

Unofficial reports say that Kosor’s team is joined by Ministers Bozo Biskupic and Marina Matulovic, who are traditionaly known for backing Sanader.

Kosor recived support from all other Ministers and HDZ’s vicepresident, Darko Milinovic, Ivan Suker, Bozidar Kalmeta, Petar Cobankovic, Vladimir Seks, Andrija Hebrang, Ivan Jarnjak, Gordan Jandrokovic, and Branko Vukelic, main party’s secretary Barnko Bacic, president of the HDZ’s youth Mislav Banek, president of the Zagreb HDZ Jasen Mesic and Ivanka Roksanic.

Sanader may be expelled from the HDZ party  

Party’s vice-president Darko Milinovic judges Sanader’s move as a very irresponsible act.

HDZ leadership is appalled with Sanader’s press conference because nobody in the party knew what he was planning to do on the 10^th anniversary of HDZ’s first parliamentary loss and his behavior is seen as a sort of attempt of rebellion.

Unofficial sources say that Sanader may be expelled from HDZ because of party’s statute which calls for expulsion of the members who harm the party’s political interests or their reputation.

Jadranka Kosor called for a Monday meeting with coalition partners who already expressed a full support for her and announced withdrawal from the Government in case Sanader attempts to interfere with her work.
