The Channel 7 documentary claims that Dubrovnik police are not considering that the Lapthorne case is connected with 3 kidnapping attempts.
Australian Channel 7 TV network has aired a documentary, trying to clarify the murder of Britt Lapthorne, featuring testimonies of three young girls: Jennifer, Amber and Kate.
Britt Lapthorne went missing in Dubrovnik on September 18, in front of the Fuego nightclub, while
her body was found three weeks later in Boninovo Cove.
All three girls described that a group of young men tried to abduct them in front of the Fuego club. The young men identified themselves as police officers.
American Jennifer Blanchard said that the young men attacked her and her friends in front of the Fuego club ten days after Britt Lapthorne went missing. Other tourists came to their rescue, so they ran away. Australian girl Amber testified that five days before Britt went missing, a group of young men triedtried to stop her in the street, but she got away. The American did not report the incident, but according to her deposition, a photo fit of was drafted of one of the youths. The Australians said he looked very much like their attacker.
A recording of a blue van was showed to one of the Australian girls, stopping in front of the Fuego club at 4:46 hours and then leaving. The girl recognised the van, saying it looked identical to the one they tried to abduct her with.
The Australian documentary also showed that there was a curve in the street 200 metres away from the Fuego club, which leads to the bay where Britt Lapthorne`s body was found.
Dubrovnik police want to send out an image that Dubrovnik is a safe city
The Australian documentary criticises Dubrovnik police which denied in the documentary that there were attempted abductions in Dubrovnik, although an Australian reported her kidnapping to the Dubrovnik police, and the other Australian reported it to the federal police, which notified Dubrovnik police.
Britt Lapthorne`s parents, Dale and Elke, said they believe their daughter was killed and want her death to be fully investigated.
The Australians expressed dissatisfaction with the way the investigation was ran and because Dubrovnik police still deny the evidence that points to a felony. In addition, they pointed out in the show that Dubrovnik police are not considering that attempted abductions of these three girls were connected with the kidnapping of Britt Lapthorne and that they want to send out an image to the public that Dubrovnik is a safe city with no crime.
