Peljesac Bridge Facing International Arbitrage?

Nebojsa Radmanovic believes open issues between Sarajevo and Zagreb will be solved during Premier Sanader`s forthcoming visit to BH.

According to BH Presidency presiding,  Radmanovic, the Ploce harbour status and passage through Neum are in the hands of the two countries` governments and needs “more action in order for disputable issues to be solved”.

As far as the construction of a bridge to Peljesac goes, Radmanovic warns that there is no political consensus about it in BH .

Zeljko Komsic, BH Presidency member, believes that Croatia will, if it continues to insist on the construction of the bridge to Peljesac, cause a dispute with BH which could end in international arbitrage.

-This is a specific case where BH authorities have to defend the interests of their country because BH exit to open sea would be endangered with the bridge construction, said Komsic.

As the Jutarnji list daily writes, problem of these two countries is the status of Veliki and Mali Skolj islands as well.

-If these two islands are to go to Croatia, it would stop the BH continuity as a mariner country and because of it, this issue is great in significance for us- pointed out BH Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sven Alkalaj.
