ZAGREB, CROATIA - Anent the upcoming Easter holidays, the biggest and most important Christian holiday Easter, large Easter eggs were installed in Ban Jelacic Square and St. Marko`s Square, which were painted by artists of the Korpivnica-Krizevci County.

Project called “Easter Egg from the heart” was envisaged so that Easter eggs, painted in the naïve style, become a Croatian specific attraction.

Apart from Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Varazdin, Koprivnica, Djurdjevac, Krizevci, Bjelovar and Molva, large Easter eggs, painted by esteemed naïve artists, now decorate the squares of Budapest, Madrid, Klagenfurt and Bratislava. The Croatian Tourist Board supported this campaign and financed the installement, while one egg was even sent to New York.

The 2,05 x 1,50 – metre polyester Easter eggs were created by Krizevci-based Poliester laminati company, while some 20 members of the Association of Hlebin Artists and Sculptures from the Molvar art circle painted the eggs, along with members of the Podravka 72 art group.
