PhotoBetter to die standing up, than live kneeling down – reads the photo of late Franjo Tudjman in Zagreb`s signature square.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – All Zagreb citizens who found themselves in Ban Jelacic Square today were surprised by an unusual image. A photo of the first Croatian president, late Franjo Tudjman, was placed on the statue of Josip Jelacic, with three lanterns in the colours of the Croatian flag. The cause for the image is the 17 th anniversary of recognition of independent Croatia.
- Let us decide on the fate of our Croatia on our own - was the first electoral slogan of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) at the elections in 1990, as well as the signature on the image, with added !founders 1989, Dubrava”.
Furthermore, the poster also has another striking slogan:
- Better to die standing up, than live kneeling down - it was written in the photo.
It seems the photo did not surprise the citizen that much, most just passed by.
You can see the photograph in the attached photo gallery: Franjo Tudjman In Zagreb`s Main Square.
