PHOTO: General Markac Arrives In The Hague

Text

The general set out to Amsterdam and Scheveningen prison because of a warrant issued out by The Hague Tribunal for his momentary arrest.

Croatian general Mladen Markac arrived in The Hague via Croatia Airlines. He was escorted by his attorney Goran Mikulic.

Hunting with Minister Kirin

The general violated the rules of his provisional release when he went hunting with Interior Minister Ivica Kirin on December 22, 2007 at Bilogora. When the photos of the hunt went public, participants denied the hunt, determining that the photos were several years old. But the truth came out soon.

After the Croatian cabinet confirmed general Markac participated in the hunt and left Zagreb even though he should not have, The Hague Tribunal has issued out a warrant for his momentary arrest and transfer to Scheveningen custody.

General Mladen Markac was arrested on Saturday at around 14 hours in his Zagreb home and brought in to Zagreb County Court. He set out Zagreb`s Pleso airport on Sunday morning to fly to Amsterdam.

Take a look at the PHOTOGALLERY.

Markac is jointly accused alongside former Croatian commander Ivan Cermak and Croatian General Ante Gotovina of participating in a "joint criminal enterprise" to drive the ethnic Serb population from the Krajina region of Croatia in 1995. Read more in the articles:
