PhotoNumerous citizens gathered for a peaceful protest to show they oppose the war due to too much innocent blood. They want peace, they said.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - “Those who were victims until yesterday, are criminals today. Serious criminals!” said the parliamentarian Semso Tankovic, remembering the Warsaw ghetto which he compares with Gaza today.
“What Hitler was for Jews, today Israeli soldiers are for Palestinians” said Tankovic at the protest held in front of the mosque in Zagreb’s suburb “Folnegovicevo Naselje”.
Many Croatian Palestinians, peacemakers and passers by filled the space in front of the mosque, showing that they are against the war and fatalities because, as they say themselves, the Palestinian people cannot cope with the victims and it is up to human conscience to do something.
“The American administration would not be so strong without the support of some European and Arab nations. Bush is now leaving the American administration and we hope that will change something” said Tankovic.
“War in Gaza is the whole world’s problem”
The “youth of the red action” also attended the protest with numerous banners and shocking pictures of the current situation in Gaza.
“What has been happening the last few days is only a small part of the tragedy that has been lasting for more than half a century. This is the problem of the whole world, and this action today is a part of a world order whose end aim is the freedom of peoples and peace in the whole world” said Nikola Vukobratovic, a representative of the youth of the red action.
“Stop bloodshed and innocent casualties of civilians” was the message that was heard loud.
In only a few days, over 2000 people were injured in Gaza, and 400 innocent were killed, of which 60% were children and older people.
