Croatian citizens decide on their future by checking next to a name of one of the 12 candidates.

SDP party’s Presidential candidate, Ivo Josipovic, voted on Sunday at 9 am at Palmoticeva Street in Zagreb. Josipovic was joined by his wife TatJana and daughter Lana.

An hour later, a former SDP member and a current independent presidential candidate, Milan Bandic, voted along with his wife Vesna.

AFP-.--.-Bandic and his wife voted at the polling station number 156 located in Njegoševa St, No 10.

The current president, Stjepan Mesić, came to the polls with his wife Milka Mesic.

He refused to reveal which of the 12 candidates he wishes to see as his successor, that is, the third Croatian President.

Voting in Australia and Japan completed.

Croatia has opened 6866 polling stations, located in both Croatia and abroad.

The first polls opened yesterday in New Zealand and the last ones will close in the US on Monday, December 28 at around 4 am CET. Croats living in Bosnia and Herzegovina may vote on the 124 polling stations opened since 7 am.

The Consular Embassy in Sarajevo established 37 polling stations; the general consulate in Mostar 54, the general consulate in Banja Luka 16, and the consulates in the area of Tuzla are responsible for 17 polling stations.

Siniša Bužan-.--.-Election stations in Serbia open at 7 am

On the territory of Serbia 14 polling stations opened at 7 am CET and all Croatian citizens are encouraged to cast their vote in elections for a new Croatian President.

According to the Croatian embassy in Belgrade, more than 30 thousand Croatian citizens who have permanent or temporary residence in Serbia may participate in the elections.

Citizens choose between 12 candidates 

Croatian citizens decide on their next president by circling the ordinal number associated with one of the 12 candidates, including five party-elected and seven independent contenders: Milan Bandic, Andrija Hebrang, Ivo Josipovic, Josip Jurcevic, Damir Cain, Boris Miksic, Dragan Primorac, Vesna Pusic, Vesna Škare Ožbolt, Miroslav Tudjman, Nadan Vidosevic and Slavko Vukšić.
