The most respectable international festival, the 40th edition of Animfest , brings a program of 1700 animated movies! The festival starts on Tuesday, May 29th.
Jury which selected movies for this program, has divided movies in 20 categories, and the most interesting category is called the Big competition which brings the newest and most interesting short animated films from the entire world.
Invasion of Chinese and Japanese directors
The interesting fact is that the numerous movies that entered the festival's program are from China or Japan. They present one quarter out of all movies presented in the ''Big competition'' program.
Movies that were specially announced are Japanese movie called ''the Great rabbit'' directed by Japanese author Atsushi Wada which won the award at Berlin film festival, and the Grain coupon of Chinese authors Xu An and Xi Chen.
The audience that likes bizarreness will prefer ''Bobby Yeah'', the apocalyptic grotesque by author Robert Morgan. This film is also a part of ''Big competition'' category.
Retrospective of most prestige authors
The special program category will present a retrospective program of all previous winners of the Great Animafest award, like Nick Park, Joanne Woodward , Koji Yamamura, as well as two Croatian authors - Nedeljko Dragic with the movie ''Dnevnik'' and Zdenko Gaporevic with the movie ''Satiemanija''.
All laureates from 1972 till 2012 will be presented at the special DVD edition. All interested viewrs won't be able to buy the DVD unfortunately but the DVD will be able accessible in public libraries and other educational institutions.
The festival will last until the 9th of June.
