PhotoPapers believed to have gone missing from the Cessna plane were found at 1,350 metres.
MOUNT VELEBIT, CROATIA - This is the first lead found in the four-day search, ever since the Cessna plane disappeared in Mount Velebit.
Although the Velebit area is familiar to the members of the Mountain Rescue Service (GSS), poor weather conditions complicated the search and it is moving at a slow pace. However, the teams are well-equipped and prepared to continue the search for days, if the need arises.
Minister praises GSS
Croatian Interior Minister Tomislav Karamarko arrived at the GSS headquarters, praising their work, as well as the work of all other members involved in the search for the Cessna plane.
On Saturday the rescue team, headed by Stipe Bozic, sensed a burning odour near the Crljeni Peak, however, Bozic will not make a fuss about it, because nothing is sure due to poor visibility. Apart from the rain and snow, the wind complicated the search on Saturday, blowing at 150 km/h.
- We sensed a strange odour of kerosene on burning, but I can`t claim with certainty, it is a purely subjective impression, so I would not hold on to that – the famous mountain-climber Bozic said.
