The driver of a red Daihatsu drove through a red light, and sent himself and a passenger to death. The other car’s driver was not injured.
Two people lost their lives in a car crash on Thursday around 10:30pm, on Zagreb’s Ljubljanska Street. The accident happened when a red Daihatsu (registration plates ZG-331-F) drove through a red light at the intersection of Ilirska Street and Ljubljanska Avenue, near the tram station Ljubljanica. Then the Daihatsu was hit by a Citroen Xsara (registration plates ZG-7758-P) that was turning left from Ljubljanska Avenue to Ilirska Street. The Xsasa was being driven by A. Maslac (54).
From the force of the crash, the Daihatsu turned around a number of times, and ended up “wrapped” around a street lamp post.
Witness: It was terrible!
- It was terrible. The Citroen hit the Daihatsu on the side, which caused the Daihatsu to turn around a number of times and end up at a street lamp post, said the shocked witness of the accident.
The driver of the Citroen Xsara was uninjured, even though the airbags in her car did not open.
Unfortunately, the driver of that Daihatsu L.V. (21) and his passenger (S.I.) died.
The scene investigation of the crash was carried out by the team of the II police traffic station, with the director Luka Pesuta and the investigating judge Devcic.
- Because of a few drivers with a conscience, who saw the crash and immediately stopped, we were able to determine the cause of this serious crash – said director Pesut.
