NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION

OCTOBER 27 2009 14:50h

PHOTOS: Kosor flirts with Borut Pahor?

Text

Kosor shone and sparkled, she used ambiguous communication, while Pahor distanced himself from such behavior, says Buhac.

After a difficult week of heavy negotiations on Podravka affairs and constant speculations concerning Damir Polancec’s suspension, the Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor finally smiled. This happened during the meeting with her Slovenian counterpart, Borut Pahor, where she smiled and seemingly relaxed.

It is interesting that our Prime Minister “blossoms” at each meeting with Slovenian Prime Minister. For this reason, we decided to ask Ljiljana Buhac, expert on non-verbal communication, if she can compare and ‘read’ photos from their past three meetings.

Meetings are beyond the scope of the protocol

Ljiljana Buhac believes that meetings between the two prime ministers are beyond the scope of a regular protocol. Namely, in the business world there is no room for kissing and touching, which is now a customary procedure during the meetings between the two prime ministers.

According to her, Prime Minister Kosor showed all the signs of flirting, like fixing and adjusting her clothes. Although her clothes were beautiful and in accordance with the occasion, Prime Minister exaggerated with the jewelry this time, says Buhac. In particular, she highlights a ring which decorated prime minister’s hand.

- Prime minister has entered his intimate space, which is the space of less than 45 centimeters. During diplomatic occasions, distance greater than 45 centimeters is more appropriate, while anything closer than that is usually reserved for spouses and children. On one picture, Kosor is almost squeezed next to the Slovenian prime minister, while at other times she appears to be trying to get as close to him as possible - highlights Buhac.

Kosor acts like bride who just signed a premarital agreement

Ljiljana Buhac adds that photos imply gestures of ownership, such as kissing. Namely, at the time they kissed, the Prime Minister Kosor approached her Slovenian counterpart.

- Kosor sparkled and shone, she looked like a bride who signed a premarital agreement. She used ambiguous communication, such as claiming that ‘boom’ happened between the two of them. She wanted to assure everyone that they suited each other - says Buhac, adding that Kosor acted in a similar manner around her predecessor, Ivo Sanader, whom she often referred to as her friend.

On the other hand, Borut Pahor acted as a true gentlemen during meetings with the Prime Minister Kosor.

- He was a bit distant and his behavior was at the level. The photos give the impression that he is reliable and confident politician. His experience in modeling probably helps him in this – says Buhac.

The conclusion of all of this is that the Prime Minister Kosor and her Slovenian counterpart, Prime Minister Pahor, may cultivate some sort of sympathy towards one another.

- There may be some sort of secret connection between the two – said Buhac in the end.
