PM Quickly Solves Agreement with Minorities

Text

The cabinet’s coalition with the national minorities is still strong. In autumn they will open a discussion over the right to double vote.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – It seems that Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader solves things very easily in regards to his agreement with national minorities. Although this morning he stated that he would not meet the minorities before Friday, even if they requested an urgent meeting, the PM managed to find some time for them. The purpose of the meeting was to solve the misunderstanding that came up after Sanader’s statements against the right of double vote for the national minorities.

Sanader met eight representatives of the national minorities in parliament. After a half an hour meeting with Semso Tankovic, representative of the Bosniak minority, Vojislav Stanimirovic, of the Serb minority, and other representatives, he stated that the coalition is still strong. It was the cabinet’s spokesperson, Zatko Mehun, who gave the news to the media.

- After the meeting they draw the conclusion to hold a public discussion over the choice of electoral legislation and other issues mentioned in the coalition agreement – said Mehun, adding that the cabinet will continue to improve its communication with the representatives of national minorities.
