Premier Ivo Sanader stressed that there is gas for another 10 days, and that he hopes that the Ukraine and Russia will solve the crisis.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The Croatian premier Ivo Sanader reported that there is enough gas for another two weeks and that the Croatian oil and gas company INA is still searching for a supplier in Europe for extra quantities of that commodity, and has gained political support in that.
“Everyone has joined into solving the problem, and I hope that Saturday’s meeting between Russia and the Ukraine will bring a decision on solving the crisis. This morning I gained information that Brussels is strongly involved and is placing a question of international cooperation and solidarity” said Sanader.
Sanader mentioned that Croatia is in a better position than other countries in the region, but that the cabinet is doing everything to find extra quantities of gas.
At a cabinet meeting today, the international recognition of Croatia was marked, and the premier voiced respect to the first Croatian president Franjo Tudjman. The cabinet held a minute of silence to honour the dead and missing in the Croatian War of Independence.
“Another two tasks lie ahead: a firm position of Croatia and raising the standard of the citizens” said Sanader in the end.
