The committee for monitoring the program for suppressing corruption concluded that there is not inter-departmental cooperation.
The sitting of the committee for monitoring the National Program for Suppressing Corruption concluded that cooperation between MUP (Ministry of Internal Affairs), SOA (Security Intelligence Agency) and DORH (State Attorney’s Office) does not exist. The president of the committee Zeljko Jovanovic said that there is poor coordination between the three named state institutions.
Jovanovic stressed that today the following people were present at the meeting: the temporary chief of police Vladimir Faber, the Minister of Justice Ivan Simonovic, the head of USKOK (Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime) Dinko Cvitan, and the State Attorney Mladen Bajic. He also said that they all agree that their interdepartmental cooperation and coordination is poor and that their suppression of corruption and crime must be improved.
“Looking at the statistics, the number of court cases where corruption was sanctioned is significantly greater than the perception of the public that it is being done” says Jovanovic.
The temporary chief of police Vladimir Faber said that “the police are shifting gears”.
He said that the police will increase their crime technology team and crime logistics.
“We will work on the continuity of raising quality” concluded Faber.
Justice minister Simonovic also advocated for the better cooperation of state institutions and stressed that they need to fight corruption and crime together.
