Croatian president assessed that BH was not yet functioning as a European state, which is why the Constitution needs work.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Wednesday, after meeting with entrepreneurs, organised by the Croatian Employers` Association, that involving the European Commission into the solution of Croatian-Slovene border dispute could be of help.
- We welcome the involvement of the European Commission in solving our bilateral dispute, although a bilateral dispute should not be a threat for Croatian`s European Union entry – Mesic said. He added that the European Commission, which would propose a way to solve the outstanding issue through its "council of sages could only be of help”.
Mesic on Bosnia-Herzegovina
When asked by reporters, Mesic also commented the current situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina, anent high representative of the international community Miroslav Lajcak leaving his post.
Reminding that the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina ended with the Dayton Agreement, he assessed that BH was not functioning as an organised European state. This is why, according to Mesic, the Constitution needs some work in order for BH to attain mechanisms and become a functional country, where entities could not create a state within a state.
