The Railways Commission held its first meeting on Monday, and was presented with the programme to restructure the national rail company HZ Holding, the government's public relations office said in a statement.
The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and was attended by Commission members - Economy Minister Radimir Cacic, Rural Development and EU Funds Minister Branko Grcic, Finance Minister Slavko Linic, Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic, Environment Minister Mihael Zmajlovic and Construction Minister Ivan Vrdoljak.
Minister Hajdas Doncic presented the programme and concept of restructuring HZ Holding which is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the national rail company. The government's objective is to have domestic companies build 25 new trains.
The session also addressed the construction of a new lowland railway line to the northern Adriatic port of Rijeka.
