Retired Woman in Three Days Earned 12mill Kuna

Text

A mysterious retired woman from Zagreb, is the largest single Zagrebačka banka shareholder among natural persons

Namely, the retired woman from Zelengaj owns 3.908 shares and is on the list of the ten largest shareholders of the bank.

The shares flared up after Bank Austria, as a member of UniCredit group, on Wednesday announced added investment of Zaba, with the record-high sum of HRK 3.55 billion. That made the price of the shares jump from HRK 8.000, on Tuesday, to the trading price of HRK 11. 000 on Friday.

'I have the shares under specific conditions'

However, the fact that Ms Zlata Krajcar knows nothing about it, or so she claims, sounds a bit incredible. When we phoned her and asked her how does a person feel who in three day without any effort earned all that money, she said she does not at all follow the Stock Exchange, or anything related to those shares, and that we were probably mistaken. Still, she soon remembered that she owned ‘some shares’, but ‘under specific conditions’. What conditions were in question, she did not want to mention.

‘I do not at all follow these things. I do have some shares, but under specific conditions. I shall have to return those shares, because not all of it is mine. Do not ask me any more about it, because I have a very bad cold. I have no idea what you are talking about’ – she said, and hung up.

Surprised by her reaction, we phoned again to have her clarify the situation.

When she asked us how we found out in the first place that she is the owner of Zaba shares, we explained to her that it is a fact available to everyone on the web site of the Zagreb Stock Exchange.

‘I have never bought any shares’

How can they make it accessible to everyone! These are private information! Please, fax me the document, and I will call them next week and sort it out with them – Z.Krajcar said, and than she completely changed her story.

Although in the first phone conversation she admitted she  owns one share, but ‘under specific conditions’, later she suddenly changed the story and started claiming she does not have any shares, and that she merely remembers that roughly two years ago she put round € 5.000 to the bank.

Upon her request, we delivered to her in her mail box, details about Zagreb Stock Exchange on shareholders’ shares, but she continues to refuse to explain what it is all about. Namely, she did not want to open the door to us to talk, stressing there was nothing to talk about.

So in the end we did not manage to find out whether Ms Zlata Krajcar is not aware that she earned HRK 12 million in three days, or if there is a completely different story behind it.
