The Karlovac police received a report that an armed man broke into the spouses` home and used the weapon.
KARLOVAC, CROATIA – Vladimir Tihonski was killed while breaking into the home of 79-year-old Dragutin Zugetic and his 71-year-old wife Marija in Donja Stranica, Karlovac police inform.
- The dead person is Vladimir Tihonski (27), a Russian refugee who was staying in Kutina – investigating judge Ivan Perkovic said, who was on the crime scene.
According to our information, the police received a report at 3:25 a.m., stating an armed man was in the spouses` home and that he used the weapon.
Although the Karlovac police characterised this event as murder on their web site, we are informed that an inquest is still being conducted on the crime scene to determine the circumstances which led to the burglar`s death.
Radio Mreznica reports that the homeowner allegedly attacked the armed burglar in self-defence with an axe.
