Same-Sex Civil Union As Marriage Alliances

Text

“Second step” association estimated the solution of same-sex civil unions can be expected, and that it will finally simmer down passions.

In the Social Integration Of Sexual And Gender Minorities Centre Second step (Drugi korak) communiqué, signed by their president Dorino Manzin, it is stated that most parliamentary parties have come closer to their positions, and that the legal solution can be expected which would satisfy all interested parties.

The Second step association is extremely satisfied with the presentation of Josip Friscic and the Croatian Peasant`s Party on regulating same-sex civil unions, and are offering a compromise solution to the negotiation conditions for this law.

Thus would Second step accept three conditions of the parliament majority as a sign of good will. Same-sex civil unions could not call their relationship a marriage. In case this was allowed, they would not have to regulate their relationship in context with the Family law, but these could be reached with the changes of the Law on Same-sex civil unions.

Manzin believes homosexual couples are equally able to raise children, but such couples still do not want to adopt, until a consensus of profession and public is reached, like in countries where this is already active.

Second step will propose changes of the Law on Same-sex civil unions based on these conditions and they expect the support of all parliamentary parties.
