SDP: We Are Lucky To Have Mesic As President

Text

Sanader's Government has made relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro worse, said Vice-President Antunovic today.

Ivo Sanader's Government is sending strange messages to the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro. New problems have arisen with Bosnia and Sanader's Government is to blame, said Social Democratic Party Vice-President Zeljka Antunovic before the party's main committee at a press conference held earlier today.

Mesic has a remedial role

- It is fortunate that President Mesic, who has a role in the creation and implementation of foreign policy, plays a remedial role when it comes to foreign policy – concluded Antunovic.

Apart from the manner in which foreign policy is conducted, SDP head had a series of harsh comments aimed at the party in power, Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), and its heads.

- The HDZ government has shown bad economic results and we think that both HDZ and Sanader should consider our economic strategy proposal – she added.

To clarify, the Vice-President thinks that the decrease in labour capable population is cause for concern to SDP but not to the party in power, or so it seems.

Antunovic: We will create at least 80,000 new jobs

- The information that there were 1.725 million labour capable people in December 2005 and that, a year later, the number dropped to 1.719 million, is cause for concern because this relates to people who should contribute to creating better conditions in economy and improving the life standard – she pointed out and added that this was a sufficient indicator that something was wrong with the Government's economic strategy.

SDP head therefore promises that their party will create at least 80,000 new jobs if they win the elections and she bases this information on the fact that, while the former coalition was in power, that was the number of people who were employed.

- SDP is offering an alternative for 70 percent of the population that is not satisfied with the operations of the Government. For the remaining 30 percent who are satisfied with economic development, one can thank HDZ – concluded Antunovic in the end.
