Poor decision-making is not to be blamed on blind political obedience, but also on a lack of information, justifies SDP.
City of Zagreb's SDP apologized on Thursday to the citizens of Zagreb for all the decisions that led the Croatian capital in the wrong direction. This admission includes taking the responsibility for all the actions that the Zagreb Mayor, Milan Bandic, took up until the November of last year, when he left the party to join the presidential elections.
Apology on the behalf of the SDP was expressed by the City Assembly representative, Mirela Holy.
- We, as a party, apologize to our citizens for all the errors that we made. The poor decision-making is not to be blamed on blind political obedience only, but also on a lack of information - said Holy.
Zagreb did not develop as the administrative center and it does not have a convention center
She said that the thematic session on urban planning, scheduled for Thursday, should be a turning point in relation to the development of the city. She also added that Zagreb does not have a system of spatial planning. The city is developing in the areas where this should not be happening, she noted.
Large housing complexes, shopping centers and garages were built, while Zagreb never developed as the administrative center. The city still lacks a convention center, noted the SDP representative.
Bandic apologized – but only for non-attendance
SDP apology includes taking the responsibility for closing of the pedestrian zone in Varsavska St for the construction of entrance ramps that lead to Tomo Horvatincic's shopping center complex.
Bandic will probably have to consider negotiating with Horvatincic to reduce the number of underground floors and parking spaces, in order to ensure the pedestrian access to the complex. Urban planing session will propose the return of state regulations from 2003 which banned the construction of underground garages in the city center.
The only shadow in the 'apology session' was cast by the fact that the message was not delivered by a chairman Zoran Milanovic, but by Mirela Holy.
Milan Bandic did not hear the SDP's apology because he did not attend this session of the City Assembly session. However, he apologized for his absence in advance.
